Confronting Anti-Trans Attacks: Race Class Gender Narrative

From nationwide elections to local school board races, the right continues to exploit a lack of familiarity with transgender people and the absence of an affirmative, race-forward message as they advance anti-trans attacks to undermine a wide range of progressive priorities.

In a recent Randomized Controlled Trial online survey, We Make the Future Action and ASO Communications with state and national partner organizations tested different approaches to combating transphobic right-wing attacks on Democrats while increasing support for transgender people.

Our testing found that we can neutralize transphobic opposition attacks with a message that names our shared value of “freedom to be ourselves” across race, class, and gender, and exposes how our opposition tries to control us.
