Creating Strong Narratives
2 Sessions: Thursdays, April 16 and 23, 1:00 - 4:00pm ET / 10:00am - 1:00pm PT
In this two part Race Class Narrative (RCN) workshop, we’ll reground you in the RCN framework, then dive into practice, drafting issue-specific narrative statements and getting feedback on strong communications practices that include race and class at every step.
Creating Strong Narratives is an in-depth training, designed for people ready to use RCN, and does not dive deep into the RCN data and audience strategy. Please only apply if you have previously attended an RCN Foundations (or similar) training.
Apply for the April Creating Strong Narratives workshop here by 5:00pm PT on March 31st.
Race, Class, and Canvassing That Connects
May 21 (9:00am-6:00pm) & May 22 (9:00am-12:00pm) in North Philadelphia, PA
The Race Class Narrative (RCN) framework originated with organizers and comms people, but too often the implementation of the strategy gets stuck on the page. If the elements of the RCN only live in press releases and messaging guides, we won’t build the multiracial, cross-class power we need to win on the issues we care about. That’s why we’re going back to basics. Whether we’re tabling on a college campus or going door-to-door, when the elements of the RCN flows naturally in our conversations, we bring people into the story and build a bigger base for our movements.
Join We Make the Future (WMTF) in Philadelphia for an in-person workshop that brings RCN to life and into realtime conversation.
Together we will:
Use your personal story to spot, connect, and uplift the shared values in your 1:1 conversations.
Practice going off script with the RCN framework to have authentic conversations, while still landing a call-to-action
Increase your skill in naming race, class, and genders in localized and relevant ways so people see themselves and others as the solution
You will leave this workshop able to take what you hear at the door, and move into an authentic conversation using the RCN framework, and still land a call-to action.
This is an experiential training with limited spots, so participants are expected to be present for the full workshop. The workshop will take place in Philadelphia, PA (final location shared with accepted participants). The workshop hours are: May 21 (9:00am-6:00pm) & May 22 (9:00am-12:00pm)
There are no prerequisites for this workshop. Priority will be given to people who fit the following criteria:
In your work, you have a deep connection to your community AND a specific campaign or issue
You have seen or heard RCN messages before, and have a hunch RCN could be useful in field or organizing programs
In your current role, you canvass or run canvassing trainings
There is no registration fee for this public workshop. Participants and their organizations will be responsible for covering their travel, lodging, and most meals. Snacks and coffee will be provided in addition to lunch on the first day of the workshop. WMTF will provide suggestions for lodging and local transportation.
Apply for the Race, Class, and Canvassing That Connects workshop here by April 10, 2026.

Wednesday, September 16, 2:00 - 4:00pm ET / 11:00am - 1:00pm PT
Dive into research-backed messaging strategies that successfully weave racial justice into climate campaigns. But this workshop won't stop at theory – you'll put these messages into practice.
